50 pc child marriage still in Bangladesh

Ibrahim Khalil Jewel: 50 percent of child marriages still occur in the country, but Bangladesh is set to become a modern state before 2041. Child marriage is a big problem, which has a great negative social and economic impact. If a child gives birth to another child, both lives are at risk. We need to take social measures to reduce child marriage.
Health and Family Welfare Minister ZahidMalek echoed the same yesterday in an event at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital.
He participated as the chief guest in the inaugural function of National Adolescent Health Conference and Launching of National Adolescent App and Website.
ZahidMalek said, if peace and order is maintained in the country, the future of boys and girls will be good. We are also working for them. Padma bridge, metro rail has been built in the country and big roads and hospitals are being built. For whom is the university being created? For our future generations. These works are being done for the future generation of the country.
Health Minister said, we have to develop the future generation properly. If we do not develop them well, the future will not be good. Bangladesh does not have much natural resources. The people of our country – the future generation is the wealth of this country. They are building the country; they are sending money from abroad. The country’s economy is progressing. That is, people are the main driving force and wealth of our country.
He further said, if we want to build our future generation, we have to keep them safe. Education should be provided for them; no nation can progress without education. Education is the backbone of a nation, along with healthcare. Because, a sick nation can never progress. A sick nation can never improve the country. That is why healthcare is so important.
Zahid Malik also said that 30 percent of the people of our country are teenagers. They are the ones who will come to run the country in the coming days. If we can make 30 percent of people as skilled citizens, then Bangladesh will become a modern state before 2041.
He mentioned that 50 percent of child marriages still take place in the country. The minister said that child marriage is a problem in Bangladesh. There are many reasons for this problem. For example, various economic and social factors. We want to eliminate these reasons. Still in the statistics we find fifty percent child marriages in the country. They get pregnant early because of child marriage. If a child gives birth to another child, both lives are at risk. We need to take social measures to reduce child marriage.
