Staff Correspondent: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda has said there were some mistakes in working as CEC in the last five years. However, my commission and I have tried our best.
He made the remarks at a press conference at 11:30 am yesterday on the Lakeview premises of the Election Commission Secretariat in the capital’s Agargaon.
The Chief Election Commissioner said, “We took various activities during our time. In some cases, we did not succeed. Because of Corona, we lagged behind for the last two years. Even then we tried”.
“We held about 6,690 elections in the last five years, including parliamentary elections. We did not hold some elections due to some reasons”, he also said.
Speaking at the farewell briefing, Nurul Huda said, “I faced many challenges during my five years in office. However, I successfully completed my responsibilities.”
In response to a question from journalists whether he would be embarrassed after leaving the commission, he said, “There is no embarrassment, no weakness. We have tried our best to work by staying neutral.”
