Per capita income increased to $2554; GDP size $411b

Staff Correspondent: The per capita income and the growth rate of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) increased again. The size of GDP this year is $411 billion which is Tk 34,840 core. At the same time, the per capita income has increased to $2554.
Planning Minister MA Mannan gave the information after the ECNEC meeting at the National Economic Council (NEC) conference room in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital yesterday.
Prime Minister and ECNEC Chairperson Sheikh Hasina joined the meeting virtually from her official residence Ganabhaban.
The Planning Minister said 10 projects were approved at the ECNEC meeting. Besides, all the information including per capita income and total GDP was presented to the Prime Minister.
MA Mannan said, “We have revised the basis economy fiscal year. We were in 2005-06, however, came to the base year 2015-16. As a result, domestic production has increased a lot. The total GDP size is $411 billion. Per capita income has also increased. Per capita income has risen to $2554 US dollars – which is Tk 2,16,580.
