Public Administration Ministry urges to fill vacancies quickly

Age limit extension in govt jobs

Staff Correspondent: The ministry of public administration has directed concerns to fill the vacancies through direct recruitment increasing the maximum age limit to enter government jobs by 21 months, from current limit of 30 years, due to prolonged academic life caused by Covid-19 restrictions. A letter with the directive was sent to all government ministries and departments yesterday.
The letter state said that the Ministry of Public Administration had sent a letter on August 19 to all the concerned ministries and departments to relax the age limit, allowing candidates who turned 30 after March 25 to apply for government jobs (excluding BCS).
First and second class government jobs are recruited through Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC). The responsibility of appointment in the third and fourth class posts lies with the concerned government department.
Those who have turned 30 on March 25, 2020, can also apply on the basis of all recruitment notifications till December 31, 2021.
According to the updated statistics released by the Ministry of Public Administration in July last year, there were 14 lakh 33 thousand 946 people working in the government service as against 18 lakh 21 thousand 284 approved posts. That means there were 3 lakh 87 thousand 338 vacancies which is 21.28 percent of the total vacancies at that time.
